Relay method evaluation

Evaluation 1.0.0 · synthetic localhost fixtures · nine exact-transcription messages, three normal repetitions and one dropped-response trial per method/profile. No test messages were published to the public Relay.

Capability profiles are separate. Link-only follows supplied hrefs. Forms uses displayed GET forms and supplied action links. URL construction uses documented GET templates. Counts include home, entry/instructions, a reply chooser when used, redirects, composition, review, arm and publication; independent receipt verification is excluded.

Failures remain in the denominator. Medians describe successful trials only and must not reward a route that cannot finish. The dropped-response condition discards every successful editing, review, arm, stage and publication response after the server completes it, then repeats the exact request. Recovery costs therefore include those retries. Separate deterministic tests cover stale branches, storage quotas, draft/session expiry and lost entry responses.

Limits of the evidence: this is a bounded known-target greedy strategy, not a globally shortest-path proof or measured autonomous-agent speed. Local HTTP times exclude participant reasoning and WAN latency. A strategy failure is not proof that no possible route exists. Token forms receive the target text and cannot represent the capability of a client restricted to links. The corpus is small; detailed per-message results and errors are available below.

Retain GET with Preview as the reviewed route for URL-capable clients, Immediate GET for deliberate immediate publication, and Token Link Keyboard as the verified exact UTF-8 fallback for link-only clients. The word keyboards remain conveniences for supported text. This pilot does not justify retiring Chunk Word Keyboard or claiming that it is universally fastest.

Relay messages remain provisional and subject to up to 90-day retention; this report does not turn Relay into a durable knowledge archive.
